AJ Odudu's appearance leaves BBC viewers distracted as 'jaws drop'

Comic Relief is airing on BBC One and the three-hour charity special is jam-packed full of entertainment. Yet viewers were left distracted just minutes into the show when host AJ Odudu joined her co-presenters. They took to social media to share how their “jaw’s dropped” when they saw her dress.

Comic Relief kicked off with an introductory sketch as the show’s main hosts were introduced.

Lenny Henry appeared in his dressing room, followed by David Tennant dressed in his Doctor Who costume.

The audience was then introduced to the five main hosts including Joel Dommett, AJ Odudu, Zoe Ball, David Tennant and Paddy McGuinness.

As each star made their entrance, viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts on AJ’s figure-hugging dress.

Steph said: “AJ’s dress reminds me of #ComicRelief #RedNoseDay” as she shared a photo of Linda Cardellini’s iconic red latex bodysuit when she played Velma Dinkley in Scooby Doo.

Stephanie Smith said: “Very much enjoying #ComicRelief but what are they wearing? All three presenters (and I love them all, especially David Tennant) look uncomfortable.

“Tight. Chafed. Trussed up. I thought we had left that behind. We need to keep our post-pandemic love of easy, beautiful clothes.”

Ahead of the show, AJ took to Instagram to express her excitement at hosting.

She said: “I’m so excited to host @comicrelief Red Nose Day live on BBC One, tomorrow at 7pm with these beauties.

“Hosting on this iconic charity event really is such an honour and I can’t wait to play my part in helping to raise vital funds for @comicrelief. Bring it on!”

She also took to her Instagram story wearing her stunning latex dress and a classic red nose.

She told her followers: “Hello guys, tonight’s the night. Red Nose Day, Comic Relief, it’s kicking off on BBC One at 7pm with little old me.

“So I hope you are in front of the telly ready to raise a load of money for Comic Relief, I’ll see you there.”

Elsewhere in the show, viewers were treated to a Ghosts charity special featuring Kylie Minogue.

Fans were also gearing up for a hilarious sketch from The Traitors, featuring some famous faces.

Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders and Mary Berry have all signed up to take part alongside Claudia Winkleman.

The live TV event will include a video appeal from William, The Prince of Wales, in which he meets homeless people who have been helped by Comic Relief.

Graham Norton, Lulu and last year’s UK Eurovision entrant Sam Ryder will pay homage to the European music contest, by playing a mock judging panel looking for the next UK star to enter the competition.
