Speaking about his 29-year-old partner, who made his Olympic debut at the Tokyo games, he added: “I’ve always loved team sports, I love being part of the Olympics. It’s an amazing experience as I’m sure Joe would say about his first time.
“And I’m sure he’ll be hungry to do more and do better next time. I just wish we could have done better.”
Murray, who has two gold medals in singles and a silver in mixed doubles, also admitted that he didn’t know whether he would have the chance to fight for another medal and couldn’t commit to playing Paris 2024.
“I don’t know about Paris. I’ve got to get the opportunity to play again,” Murray said.
