Drivers warned of new taxes as electric car plans to decimate Treasury's income


    The AA also suggested how a new road pricing system could be used in the future.

    Drivers would be allocated 3,000 free miles, with an extra 1,000 miles for those living in rural areas, with motorists going over those limits paying per journey after that.

    This comes as the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy released the Net Zero Strategy, aimed at “Building Back Greener”.

    This outlined the Government’s commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
