A girl has died after being hit by a bus in a street in Birmingham. The 15-year-old was struck in Sheaf Lane in the Sheldon area of the city just before 3pm on Saturday (March 18).
Police confirmed the teenager was left with serious injuries.
Ambulance crews, including an air ambulance, are believed to have attended the incident.
But the 15-year-old was confirmed dead shortly after she arrived at hospital, Birmingham Live reports.
West Midlands Police has issued an appeal for witnesses to come forward.
The force said the driver of the bus has been helping with enquiries as it looks to establish the full circumstances around what happened.
Pc Gail Arnold, from West Midlands Police’s serious collision investigation unit, said: “A young girl has tragically died and we’ll be doing all we can to support her family during this deeply distressing time.”

She added: “We’re working to establish the circumstances behind the collision and we’re keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, and especially anyone with dash cam footage.”
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “We’re appealing for information after a teenage girl has tragically died after being struck by a bus in Birmingham.
“The collision happened in Sheaf Lane, Sheldon, at just before 3pm on Saturday (March 18).”
The spokesperson added: “A 15-year-old girl was seriously injured and confirmed dead shortly after arriving at hospital.
“Our thoughts are with her family and friends during this devastating time.”
