Predictions from the Bank of England have revealed that the rate of inflation could reach double digits by the end of this year, while interest rates are expected to be increased for the fourth time in several months to help slow the growth of inflation.

One Twitter user – Ian Mckim – said: “Remember when this moronic lot talked in Brexit platitudes. Sunlit uplands! Oven ready deal. Cost of living will fall.

“12 years of Tory Government and now 30-year high inflation rate.”

On Wednesday, Chancellor Rishi Sunak will announce his Spring Statement to MPs and outline how the Government plans to support households crippled by the cost of living crisis.

But is an underlying factor for why inflation has soared the British people’s choice to leave the EU?
