More than 200 US dams have failed in rain storms since 2000. Is your community at risk?

Published | Updated

USA TODAY found thousands of U.S. dams could pose a growing threat to nearby communities as the climate changes. Search for a city or address to see dams that would likely cause death or destruction if they failed. Check condition ratings and, for dams east of the Rocky Mountains, see how much more often climate models predict major storms will occur. Some states, such as Texas, mainly have just federally owned dams listed. Others file data on additional dams but not their conditions.
