Kante went down with an ankle injury against Liverpool, however, so Saul could yet find plenty of opportunities to impress Thomas Tuchel.
After the £98million deal to bring in Romelu Lukaku, Saul became the Blues’ second major signing of the summer, although they missed out on a deadline day swoop for Jules Kounde.
There is little wonder he opted to go for Tuchel’s side, with their early-season form indicative of a side on the up.
A UEFA Champions League victory back in May will have also helped, while this summer’s recruitment looks to have made them into strong Premier League title contenders.
