Oti Mabuse details ‘amazing opportunity’ as she makes special Strictly Come Dancing return

Date:

This year, the professional dancer revealed that after seven years on the Strictly dance floor she had decided to leave the show. Although Oti has dominated TV since her exit, she’s since revealed that she’ll be returning for the upcoming quarter-final in a way viewers may not expect.

The last time fans saw Oti Mabuse on Strictly Come Dancing, the 32-year-old was partnered with rugby star Ugo Monye after winning the 2020 series with comedian Bill Bailey.

Despite being a firm fan favourite, the dancer decided to hang up her shoes and pursue other ventures in her career.

Since her departure, she’s delved into the world of judging and presenting with roles on programmes such as Dancing on Ice, Romeo and Duet and The Masked Dancer.

However, it’s good news for Strictly fans as the star has revealed she’s making a comeback, but not in the way that people may think.

However, when she appeared on The Big Narstie Show, the former Strictly star admitted there were moments her sister would score her low that their mum wasn’t happy with.

Oti said: “My mum on WhatsApp is like, ‘WHATTT?! A SIX WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!’

“Like we had to separate a little bit, my mum, from their WhatsApp group because she gets emotional.

“Then she stops being called Motsi or Motshegetsi, which is her real name, and goes, ‘These judges, they don’t know what they’re talking about!’.”

Oti told her Instagram followers in February this year that she had made the difficult decision to leave after a seven-year run.

The 32-year-old wasn’t the only pro to leave the BBC show this year either as Aljaž Škorjanec, husband to Strictly’s It Takes Two host Janette Manrara, decided to part ways.

After nine years on the dancefloor, Aljaž revealed his exit to fans teasing that he had exciting things planned for the future.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday on BBC One from 7.15pm
