Manchester United target Raphael Varane will undergo his medical this Wednesday after a deal was agreed with Real Madrid, according to reports. United will pay Real an initial £42.7million for Varane plus bonuses. The France defender has entered the final year of his contract at Real.
Varane has turned down all offers of an extension with the Bernabeu club.
Reports say the 28-year-old wanted to receive a similar salary to that of Real’s summer signing David Alaba but that was not facilitated by the La Liga giants.
United have pounced on Varane’s situation and will sign one of the world’s best defenders to help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side push up the Premier League table.
United were claimed to have agreed personal terms with Varane some time ago.
However, the two clubs were yet to reach an agreement over a fee until now.
European football expert Gianluca Di Marzio says a deal is now “done” between United and Real.
Di Marzio tweeted: “#Varane @ManUtd deal done: €50M plus bonus to @realmadrid, medicals in #Manchester in two days.”
