Charlotte Haywood (played by Rose Williams) was left heartbroken in the season one finale when Sidney Parker (Theo James) decided to honour his word and marry Eliza Campion (Ruth Kearney). The star has opened up on her character, moving on in season two and trying to focus on what is next.
Fans were shocked when Charlotte and Sidney were so close to being their on-screen dream couple before it was ripped away from them.
However, with the new season just days away, there might be a new love of the cards for Charlotte.
On the second season, Rose said: “My focus was to try and honour the Charlotte that was the Charlotte of episode one.”
Sidney announced in the first outing of the show that he was marrying his fiancée, whose money would keep his brother Tom (Kris Marshall) out of prison – which dashed the couple’s hopes of achieving their happily ever after.

He described: “We knew that once we got rid of Sidney, we couldn’t bring in a new love interest right away.
“We thought: Let’s make sure that Charlotte was adamant that she doesn’t want a new lover, and then let’s bring in two men and keep them an open question about if either of them would be with her.”
With season three already on the cards, the show doesn’t have to rush to resolve issues or end storylines.
The writer continued: “We were able to plot a really long arc.
“There are elements in episode one of season two that pay off in the final episode of season three.”
The period drama is based on Jane Austen’s final, unfinished novel and is developed by Emmy and Bafta-winning writer Andrew Davies.
Although fans don’t know if Charlotte will find love this time around, we do know that she will have an exciting summer.
Sanditon season 2 streams March 21 on BritBox.
