Strictly Come Dancing returned to Blackpool Tower Ballroom, celebrating the glitz and glamour of dance since 1894. The eight remaining contestants were set to give their all in a bid to impress the judges, and to guarantee their safety into next week. The judges and the contestants put on their best glad rags to mark the return to Blackpool, including Shirley who donned a golden floaty dress, but not all viewers were impressed as they became distracted.
As the professional dancers kicked off the show with an incredible performance, the judges also joined them on the dance floor.
Shirley strutted out alongside Anton Du Beke as they were both dressed to the nines in gold, but not everyone was impressed with her outfit choice.
Taking to Twitter, user @aimee_lcx91 joked: “Shirley has come as a curtain tie tonight #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing.”
John Ingram commented: “What is Shirley wearing omg #StrictlyComeDancing.”

Christine Michael teased: “Shirley: a glam reminder to stock up on the Quality Street for Christmas #scd #StrictlyComeDancing.”
@G2D2G also agreed with the Quality Street comparison and asked: “Has Shirley come as a quality street #StrictlyComeDancing.”
@fakoriginal added: “Shirley’s come dressed as a toffee #strictly #scd #StrictlyComeDancing.”
However, not everyone was so critical, as @EmmaIves praised: “Shirley is absolutely rocking that dress.” (sic)
Introducing the judges to the floor, Claudia exclaimed: “And ready for another twirl on the dance floor, please welcome, the judges!”
Craige Revel Horwood walked out with wearing a subtle gold jacket with a matching bow tie, blowing a kiss towards the audience and giving a shimmy.
Motsi Mabuse strutted out and sported an extravagant up do alongside a sparkly cheetah print dress, with a split down the leg.
Walking out ruffling her gold dress was Shirley, followed by Anton sported a suave two piece suit and gave a wave to everyone in the room before leaping to his fellow judges.
According to bookmakers Ladbrokes, comedian Ellie Taylor looks set for elimination this weekend with odds of 9/4.
Following closely behind is Morning Live presenter Kym Marsh with odds of 5/2 and radio presenter Tyler West 9/2.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Once again Ellie Taylor finds herself at the head of the Strictly elimination betting, with Kym Marsh being her most likely challenger for the boot.”
He added: “Hamza has pulled even further ahead in the betting for the Glitterball Trophy; we’d be baffled if his or Helen’s positions are in jeopardy this weekend.”
Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturday from 7:45pm on BBC One, followed by the results on Sunday.
