Star Hobson's evil mother has sentence for allowing toddler's death increased

Date:

Three senior judges today increased her jail sentence to 12 years.

Star died after she was taken to hospital in September 2020, having suffered “utterly catastrophic” and “unsurvivable” injuries at Brockhill’s hands in Keighley, West Yorkshire.

Brockhill herself was jailed for life in December.

The 28-year-old security guard laughed at Bradford Crown Court as the sentence was passed.

The judge said Brockhill had “shown no remorse” for Star’s killing, which she had denied.

It was decided Smith’s sentence would be examined though as Attorney General Suella Braverman described the case as “tragic and extremely upsetting”.

She said she could not recommend any increase to the sentence Brockhill received, Yorkshire Live reports.

Speaking at the time, Ms Braverman said: “This case will have caused upset to anyone who read about it, but my job is to decide if a sentence appears to be too low based solely on the facts of the case.

“I have carefully considered the details of this case, and I concluded that I can refer Frankie Smith’s sentence to the Court of Appeal as I believe it is unduly lenient.

“However, I have concluded that I cannot refer Savannah Brockhill’s sentence.”
