Tom Dean pulled off a stunning victory to claim a gold medal in the 200m freestyle swimming event on Tuesday.
He finished 0.04 seconds ahead of his Team GB partner and world number one Duncan Scott.
While this is Dean’s first appearance at the Olympics, he also set a new British record of just 44.22 seconds.
But it was Scott, who qualified as the fastest swimmer, who was considered favourite to take home the gold medal.
Nonetheless, by winning the gold and silver medals, Dean and Scott become the first pair of male British swimmers to finish on the podium together since the 1908 Games in London.
