Antonio Conte gave his players barely two hours to celebrate their biggest win of the season as he continues to crack the whip at Tottenham. The 2-0 win over Brentford was the first time the north London club had won by more than a single goal – but before the night was out he wanted his players focused on Norwich.
“We can enjoy the win until midnight, but one second after midnight we need to start thinking about the difficult game on Sunday,” the Spurs manager said.
“We need to get three points because that is the only way to stay close to the high part of the table.”
The win came after the Italian had read the riot act to his players in Slovenia seven days earlier after a poor Europa Conference League performance.
“I’m happy because I have seen a great commitment and a good passion about the players – it’s a good reaction.” Conte said.

“In a loss you learn a lot. The players are starting to understand my philosophy.
“The three points are good for confidence. We have started on a new path. The players are showing me great desire to change the situation.”
Son Heung-min’s goal after 65 minutes guaranteed the win after a Sergi Canos own goal from a corner.
“It was a great performance,” Son said. “It was our aim from the start to make it a horrible night for them because this is our home and luckily we did a great, great job.
Brentford manager Thomas Frank put the unlucky own goal down to football being “a random game”.
However, he was still furious that his side had conceded from a set-piece.
“My team were brave and tried to play, but if we want to get points, we cannot concede a set-piece goal,” he said. “End of discussion.”
