Following the Champions League draw against Sporting Lisbon last month, ex-Aston Villa captain Gabriel Agbonlahor called out Lloris. He told talkSPORT: “Lloris has got to do better. Honestly, if you’re on that team at half-time, you’re saying ‘come on keeper, you’re killing us, you’ve got to do better’. Look how far away it was.
“But then second half he makes these saves, it’s hard with Lloris. He makes some great saves and then some shots you expect him to save, you’ve got to save that first goal for me.”
Former Spurs striker Alan Brazil also claimed that Lloris’ abilities are waning. Brazil said: “I’m worried about him. I thought against Newcastle he was poor as well, bad decision making.
“I thought he was poor there and that’s not the first time we’ve said that. Listen, he’s been top class in his career, I just think maybe now it’s too many mistakes.”
