WASPI ‘debacle mustn’t happen again!’ – petition calls for annual state pension forecasts

“With an annual forecast statement every person would have up to date information about their entitlements. Private Pensions send out yearly info – why not let the Government do the same?

“Ensure the debacle regarding pensions for women born in the 1950s never happens again.”

At the time of writing, the petition had garnered 240 signatures, and thus has a way to go before the Government will respond.

Parliament petitions require a total of 10,000 signatures to trigger a Government response, but if a petition reaches 100,000 signatures, it will then be considered for debate in Parliament.

All petitions run for a period of six months, and the deadline for this one is February 16, 2022.

A WASPI spokesperson told Express.co.uk: “While this isn’t a WASPI petition, WASPI – Women Against State Pension Inequality women, born in the 1950s, would certainly have benefitted from an annual state pension statement, and clear and concise notice of up to a six year increase in their state pension age.
