Harry Kane needs a scan on his ankle which could throw England’s brilliant start to the World Cup into turmoil.
The England captain left the Khalifa International stadium with light strapping on his ankle and the slightest hint of a limp but trained indoors yesterday with the rest of those who played the majority of the 6-2 win over Iran.
The 29-year-old needed treatment after being caught from behind just outside the Iran box but resumed play to set up Marcus Rashford’s fifth goal before finally making way for Callum Wilson in the 76th minute.
England staff, however, became more concerned after the warm-down session at the Al Wakrah Sports Complex base the Three Lions are using for the duration of the tournament.
But the FA are keeping tight-lipped until results of the scan are known and Kane’s ability to feature in the remainder of the tournament are known for sure.
